About District

Botad District is a district situated in the Saurashtra region of the state of Gujarat, India. It was created on 15 August 2013 from the southwestern part of Ahmedabad District and the northwestern part of Bhavnagar District. Botad consist of four talukas namely Botad, Gadhada, Barvala and Ranpur. Botad is the administrative headquarters of the district which is about 92 kms from Bhavnagar, 133 kms from Ahmedabad and 176 kms from the state capital at Gandhinagar.

Botad District is surrounded by Surendranagar District to the northeast, Rajkot districts to the west, Bhavnagar and Amreli to the south and Ahmedabad District to the East.

The Sukhbhadar River flows on northern border of Botad district in Ranpur taluka.The Kalubhar River flows in the southern part of Botad district in Gadhada taluka.The district is situated between 71E latitude and 22 N latitude &42 E longitudes to 10N longitudes. Kalubhar, Sukhbhadar, Ghelo, Utavali and Goma are among the other main rivers in the district.

Botad District has an area of 2564 Sq.km. and a population of 6.52 lac as per 2011 census.
